The Renaissance and the Reformation celebrated the Great Awakening – the birth of the modern age from the ashes of darkness. The Phoenix found new freedom resulting in many discoveries and inventions, man conquered “time and space”. The concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” is still to be realized. The pursuit of knowledge, wealth and power has come to an end and man is still looking for new ways to drink the nectar of life. Scientists are working day and night to get away from this global village and the mad rush of mankind to build palaces on the moon or Mars. Despite all its blessings, globalization has opened Pandora’s box which poses a challenge- survival of the fittest! This often calls into question the present education system.
The modern education system, thus, enables the future generation to be intellectually sharp, mentally alert, physically healthy and spiritually advanced to ensure peaceful coexistence. Gone are the days when the emphasis was on gathering information, cramming things and vomiting on the answer sheet. However, today’s education is value-based. It is all about learning by doing, attitude development, developing life-skills, imbibing values, contributing to the society we live in, developing intelligence as well as knowledge and developing wit! In short, today’s education is responsible for bringing about holistic development in our future generation. The prestigious Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is the pioneer of the modern education system. Here students are given ‘unrestricted freedom’ to think and create, observe and analyse, do and learn.
The school’s website is a unique platform to showcase the literary and creative activities of its family members. It is not only a means of communicating our thoughts but it also highlights the success and achievements of our activities. It provides insights into one’s thought and creativity through various expressions. Our students have been successful in making their mark in the path they have traversed so far and the school has made its mark in the field of education. While nurturing the potential of our young learners, I would like to urge parents to motivate their children to take advantage of this opportunity to participate and excel in various school activities, be it academic or co-scholastic. I hope this endeavour of our young minds will serve as a stepping stone towards the many milestones that we have to cross in our pursuit of excellence. We believe this journey of excellence will never end.
